Celine Rita Launches AW09 Collection
Hannah McArdle shows love for Celine Ritas latest collection launched at a twilight show held in dowtown Auckland on the 26th of May.
Celine Ritas AW09 collection “Beautiful Little Fools” was launched Wednesday evening at a packed show at Sale St Bar in Victoria Quadrant, Auckland City. This is Celine Rita’s third collection and if the Winter range is anything to go by, this label has some pretty big dreams!
A chocca line hit the runway showcasing 36 outfits. Celine Rita’s signature neck frills, petal sleeves and short shift dresses dominated the collection with a few favorites from summer recreated like the paper bag short.
Celine explains “The title is a quote from the fabulous novel, “The Great Gatsby” where daisy one of the main characters said that when her daughter grew up all she ever wished for her daughter was to be a beautiful little fool. So it’s a little bit about growing up, finding your feet and expectations from others and yourself.“
The “Beautiful Little Fools” collection has an aesthetic that screams Mala [Brajovic] meets Kate [Sylvester]. Clean, pretty, tastefully colourful and embodying a variety of textures – this designer’s handwriting is becoming quite a signature!
A recent grad from AUT’s Bachelor of Design – Fashion program, designer Celine Chapman is adamant that despite gloomy economic conditions this is the best time to be launching her line. In fact, Celine says that these gloomy predictions have empowered her “The amount of people that I have come across who have said start your business now is staggering.” And it can only get better!
Born out of a passion to design effortlessly beautiful clothes that women look at and get excited about Celine is designing for those who most inspire her – her nearest and dearest. One flick through the look book and a few names stood out – all the outfits from AW09 are named after those she imagined wearing them! “Everything I design, I design with my friends in mind because I want them to be able to wear the range and have lots of fun with it!”
