Cybèle’s ‘Serpentine’ Collection Translated Into Film
New Zealand fashion designer Cybèle Wiren has taken on the art of film making as a medium to showcase her latest spring /summer 09/10 collection, Serpentine.
The short film, set to the haunting tune of Scott Walker’s Cossacks Are, expertly captures the essence and eloquence of the collection, while confining the Serpentine muse within a mirrored void as she twists and turns amidst billows of fabric and plumes of smoke. The illusion of a constricted space has been cleverly utilised to bring attention to the garments and one finds them self entranced in a visual dance between suspension, suffocation and the mesmeric beauty of textiles in motion.
