Runway Report:Salasai Autumn/Winter 2010
If you are missing a waist right now, I suggest you quickly go and get yourself one pronto! That is if you want to be rocking the amazing suiting from Salasai in the next season!
Kirsha Whitcher, originally from the Hawkes Bay has really outdone herself for her once personal project – Salasai. Right down to the models chosen, (while some may say a little on the thin side) actually showed the clothes off perfectly. The hair and makeup was amazing, the atmosphere of the shed was buzzing and the sounds were matched perfectly for the visual feast we had coming!
In fact, everything about the Salasai show was utterly beautiful. But, back to the clothes! That’s why we are here after all!
Sexy suit pants with fabrics falling straight down in a loose fit style and oversized jackets with button detail were the wow of the show, the models hips jutting out above the pant waistband of the fabric just added to the amazing construction with black high-waist hose accentuating the lines. Zips were featured too, outlining jacket pockets and dress fastenings with fringe detail adding a spectacular dose of gorgeous to an already winning little black dress.
In addition were luxurious hoods draping from generous allowances of fabric, knitted vests with white and coloured detail, cinched in dresses from velvets, satins and lighter chiffons. Fabulous splashes of colour in oranges, reds and blue hues made up the collection. The final offers of “belted goodness” over printed oversized tees with styled suspenders to over the knee fabric “boots” were the piece de resistance!
Overall, Kirsha Whitcher is surely onto a winner with this collection and I can’t wait to support the line when available in stores. Perhaps I will have found my waist by then too! I truly loved this collection and the show. Well done Kirsha!
