Day 2 of ANZFW kicked off this morning with another adventure up to the Sky City theatre for the Nom*D AW 2010 presentation. Virginial whites and complex black garments follow a journey of discovery and transformation through the digital clip – Watch it here: http://www.nomd.co.nz/turncoats.html

Amanda loved the Sera Lilly collection. More moody and dark than previous seasons but still showing the great dresses she made her name with. Amazing styling from Dan Ahwa of Apparel Magazine. And so cute that Sera walked out with her adorable daughter at the end.

Cuddly knits were so desirable at Andrea Moore today because the dreadful weather and evil wind on the pontoon was freezing us all. Their oversized statement scarves were so simple and yet so striking.

The Carpenters Daughter show is the only label to have ever brought size 12-24 models to an ANZFW catwalk – and today the gorgeous girls hit the catwalk with attitude and flair. Quote of the day must go to a TCD model backstage who asked “I think I might smile on the catwalk… do you think it looks ok if you smile?”

Along with what seemed like half of Auckland we attended the Trelise Cooper and Cooper shows. The longest show so far was younger and more adventurous than Trelise’s old collections. Colin Mathura Jeffree was in attendance looking like a suave Spanish guitar player and his protégée’s Hosanna Laura and Cristobel all walked in the show.

Kate Sylvester – the show Hannah had been DYING to see! After a quick trip to McD’s with editor Mel and super star Jason we were ready to be amazed. The “Diamond Dogs” collection inspired by the exciting life of Judith “black lips” Baragwanath was an adventure through school uniforms, precious jewels, leather straps and lacy lingere.

A big day with some neat observations:

Hannah’s pics: An amazing start at Nom*D and an extra ordinary end with Kate Sylvester – a great bookmarked day! I’m interested in the amount of fur (faux or real) presenting in the AW 2010 collections – or this just a heightened awareness with animal rights activist Pamela Anderson’s imminent arrival at ANZFW?

Amanda’s Trend Pic: Fur, preferably of the faux or vintage variety. The amazingly oversized yeti-esque coat at Sera Lilly was jaw dropping and possum is quite a feature in the exhibition halls. Pamela Anderson will not be pleased as MUSE is vocally anti fur.

Amanda’s Favorite Show: Sera Lilly, hands down. Love her stuff, it’s so desirable – it’s fashion candy. As usual I loved the styling by Dan Ahwa who styled Salasai, Sera Lilly and Jaeha last year.
