Runway Report:Zambesi Autumn/Winter 2010

IMG_9958The fashion pack furiously hailed taxi’s on Tuesday night as they ran from the LBD show to Zambesi at the Sky City theatre against the clock. After a mad dash the Designer Direction team were chauffeur driven to the pre-show drinks and took the opportunity to get snap happy, schmooze and have a well desired break before the much anticipated show!

IMG_9954Dark tree silhouettes were projected onto the surrounding theatre walls in spotlights lit with an eerie blue light before a lone narrator took to the stage setting a sombre tone for the production to come. Models paraded down a long beam of light onto the theatre stage and were projected onto a backdrop while industrial sounds filled the room.

asdfTailored garments with a slouched oversized quality and bound by controlled pleats describe the Zambesi collection with teals, muted reds and sombre blacks/browns/greys completing the hard look. Geometric prints also brought a new dimension to the nonchalant Zmabesi cool. This Designer Direction writer is already placing her order for a worn trench – there is just something special about clothing that oozes with life and adventure.
