The Fashion Chronicles – ANZFW Day Four

Hannah McArdle of www.aychblog.com and Amanda Haxton from www.fashionbehindthescenes.com fill you in their daily activities and the ins and outs on the final day of the Air New Zealand Fashion Week.

michelle-yvette-runway-brett-stanley-5948The final day of ANZFW 09 had a bit of controversy attached to it before the alarm went off this morning. Stitch Ministry and Michelle Yvette both used possum fur in their collections on the day that Pamela Anderson and Richie Rich launched their fashion line A*MUSE – a line strongly pro animal rights and eco friendly.

Stitch Ministry launched their Wahine Bikini line this morning made from merino and possum fur – and a fabulous fur trimmed bustier. Hannah loved the huge quiffs the models sported with the mane like braid down the centre of the head.

michelle-yvette-runway-brett-stanley-5944Amanda Loved the Flamenco dancers at Michelle Yvette this morning but it was a pity most of the front row didn’t show up, they missed a great show.

federation-runway-brett-stanley-6484We all watched the paint drying at Federations show but no one got bored because the collection had lots of bright colours and details that kept our attention; like models hand being dipped in paint. Best styling so far.

A*MUSE – the most talked about show in the lead up to fashion week. Only a “select group of media” were officially invited to the show but that didn’t stop Hannah getting a seat and observing the madness for DD. Glittertastic swimwear sums up the show – breasts, ab’s, flirting on the catwalk and an explosion of glitter before Richie Rich and Pamela Anderson took their runway bow.

Huffer and Miss Crabb rounded off fashion week with their collaboration presented at Continental Cars in Newmarket. High fashion meets urban Kiwi street wear with a kwirky twist.

We are exhausted but so sad that ANZFW is over for another year – we are planning our next adventures in fashion land and still have the Zambesi retrospective show to attend on Saturday night!

federation-runway-brett-stanley-6555Amanda’s trend pic for the day: knitted scarves tied into bows. It’s a trend that’s been seen everywhere this week, from Andrea Moore through to Federation and at plenty of shows in between. Looks really cute, and warm, but I’m not sure how easy it will be to DIY at home.

Amanda’s favourite show of the day: Trelise Cooper Kids, simply could not get any cuter.

Hannah’s trend pic for the day: Spectacular cell phones. Have you checked out front row pictures lately? The iphone brigade include Anna Fitzpatrick and Rumi while Patty Huntington and Isaac Hindin Miller sit in the Blackberry camp and DD’s Hannah McArdle and Ruby Higgens are Nokia Eseries kids. Tweet that.

Hannah’s favourite show: A*MUSE – such energy and vibrancy – I want to place my order for an off the shoulder A*MUSE printed Tee right now. I’ve totally bought into the dream!
