Celine Rita ‘Sweetest Thing’ Summer Collection Launches at Sale St Bar
‘The Sweetest Thing’ SS/09 from the label Celine Rita previewed at Auckland’s Sale Street bar earlier this week to a varied audience of all ages. Inspired by designer Celine Rita’s childhood memories of summer the look was flirty, youthful and yet elegant beyond its years.
Sale street bar provided the perfect location to match Celine Rita’s understated feminine style. Guests sipped cocktails made from red bull and champagne while they rifled trough goodie bags filled with scrumptious chocolate and brightly coloured Celine Rita scarves.
A long ‘T’ shaped catwalk made of red carpet filled up half of Sale Street and a huge queue of people eager to see the latest collection had already formed when I arrived, surprisingly, early.
The overpowering colour of the collection was coral which was seen everywhere from maxi dresses, to blouses and in a cute childish check print. Celine’s signature looks were out in force, lots of full high waist skirts and shorts, and the ever popular frilled waistcoats and lace vests.
Bright floral and abstract prints in a concoction of coral, navy and purple tones were seen on the layered and frilled dresses that made their way seamlessly down the runway, the perfect party dress for the races or a summer wedding.
More understated florals made appearances and were particularly effective on the mid drift baring cropped tops and matching high waist skirts. There were also sexier cocktail dresses in fresh white and other monotones which were elegant timeless pieces designed to suit many ages and figures.
Since graduating less than a year ago Karaka based Celine has acquired admiration from media and stockists at an alarming rate. The Celine Rita label is now stocked in boutiques from one end of the country to another, like Kingsland’s Dressing Dolls Boutique.
