Michelle Yvette Showcases New Collection

Michelle Yvette ss11 Launch - Haeme Park

You can’t help but tap your foot as models strut and half dance down the runway to swing music blasting throughout the room. Michelle Wilson, creator of the brand Michelle Yvette, has done an excellent job setting the right atmosphere and capturing the essence of her collection for her s/s 11 fashion show. Think fun, flirty and confident; old Hollywood glam’ combined with that timeless Rita Hayworth sophistication.

The evening started with the new summer collection named “Three hours in the powder room”. The inspiration for the line, Michelle says comes from how long it takes a girl to get ready. She conveyed this inspiration through beautiful cocktail dresses; most of them knee length because Michelle also likes to appeal to the conservative girl; matched with stunning fascinators and striking red lips, and a sea of colour.

Next up was the winter collection, this is what’s in stores now and was featured at last year’s New Zealand Fashion Week. The concept behind this line was ‘creatures of the night’, so models took to the catwalk wearing black lipstick, tailored jackets, trenches and pants, black leggings and of course, towering heels. The winter collection was understandably a lot darker, with the use of bold, block colours mixed with sequins and patterns and bows for an added zing!
