NZFW Runway Report & Gallery: Liz Mitchell AW11

A household name and well deserved too – Liz Mitchell is a name synonymous with stylish celebrities and affluent societies. For this coming winter season expect the same signature of grandeur and richness in fabric and detail.

‘The Scent Of A Peony’- Glamour and decadence marched the catwalk in a bountiful array of delicate floral colours and orient inspired details; hark military infusion from the 1940’s wartime in Shanghai.  Liz Mitchell tells of her travels to China, where she says “…I was inspired by the flowers in Chinese art”, and that the peony is “…sumptuous and overblown, while also delicate and subtly coloured.”  Fuchsia coats are beautifully tailored.

Elegant, knee-length day looks in lace and merino knit.  Suits opt for mandarin collars and the odd toggle are a common sight.  Oriental Obi belts support slender cigarette pants.

Brilliant embroidery for a flowing fuchsia dress and rich trims of gold sequin embroidery show-off how attention to detail is key to next winters looks, which are (for a lack of better words) – exquisite.
