The SS10 Monster: Final Trend Report
I’m afraid this is it. The final part of the SS10 Monster. I had considered writing something a wee bit more profound and instill a bit more pensiveness into the introduction than usual. But then, hey, it’s a trend report. It’s meant to be shallow. And what’s more shallow than to extend the ephemeral, fleeting idea of trends to complex human individuals? Well, that’s just what I shall do for you today. So, you keep reading and I’ll keep it superficial.
Fresh new faces
In the modelling world, to quote noted expert Heidi Klum, you are either in or you are out. Check out who made it in this Spring.
Liu Wen: It looks like Liu Wen is the new Du Juan. This season, Liu Wen kept herself busy walking down the runways of Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Balenciaga and Miu Miu to name a few.
Karlie Kloss: A rare American among a sea of Eastern European beauties and Brazilian glamazons, Kloss worked the sci-fi chick look at Balenciaga and the sassy insouciant Parisian at Sonia Rykiel amongst others.
Mirte Maas: Has a nice ring to it, huh? With alliteration, knockout good looks and some serious eyebrows on her side, Mirte Maas looks set for many more bookings in the future.
Constance Jablonski: Why, bonjour mademoiselle. Hailing from the nation that brought us camembert, lingerie and the forty hour week, Constance looks like a keeper.
Iris Strubegger: With a super cool do and cheekbones that could cut a frau, this German model strut her stuff for the likes of Chanel, Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and many many more.
The Rise of the Bloggers
Blog. If you say the word a couple times over, it begins to sound strange, doesn’t it? Blog. Blog. Blog. Almost alien-like. And if you say it quickly enough, it sounds like you’re chugging down gallons of water at an astounding rate. I dare you to try it! Whatever anyone may think about this unstoppable trend, technology is inescapable and the SS10 fashion weeks certainly made proof of how influential the internet fashion pack has become.
You would have to live in a cave not to have heard of wunderkind Tavi of The New Girl in Town. Hailing from the suburbs of Chicago, this fashion forward thirteen year old jetted off to New York SS10 fashion week to rub shoulders with the likes of Marc Jacobs, Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo. I cannot help but be INCREDIBLY jealous for, at that age, I had, at best, a nebulous knowledge of high fashion and most of my wardrobe was still stocked with Billabong and Roxy.
The always wonderful Susie Lau of Style Bubble was also seen popping up at every notable show in London. Her incredible knack for writing and her adventurous sense of fashion have elevated her to the highest echelons of bloggerdom.
Scott Schuman from the Sartorialist and Yvan Rodic of Face Hunter both have a keen eye for style and turned up to, well, basically every show worth mentioning. If you’ve been snapped by these two, you know you’re werking it!
Well, there you have it. I suspect your quota for frivolous reading has been met for the day and I suppose this is adieu. Do not fret for there shall be many more trend reports to come in the future for, as always, the fashion shows must go on!

Wow! You are ridiculously lucky! Yes, I completely agree that Scott Schumann takes gorgeous photos and they really capture the person’s inner and outer qualities so well.
